General Information and Safety

We take safety and wellbeing seriously at Kingston. Please help us by following these site rules and procedures:

  • Late Arrivals: After 8:55 a.m., enter via main reception.
  • Parking: Parents must not use the staff car park. Use St. Peter’s Church car park
  • Crossing Patrol: Available on Church Road near the Post Office and Kenneth Road.
  • Road Safety: Both staff and external visitors will teach the children about road safety and you are asked to reinforce this very important aspect with your child.

Can we draw your attention also to the dangers of parking outside the school? Church Road is extremely busy and therefore a potential danger. If you need to bring your child to school by car, we have an arrangement with St. Peters Church.

School Site Rules

To keep our school environment clean, safe and welcoming:

  • Dogs: We are a dog-friendly school, but for hygiene reasons, dogs may only be carried across the playground if small. Dogs must not walk on site, even if on a lead.
  • Wheels and Toys: Bikes, scooters, skateboards, toy weapons and footballs are not allowed during the school day. Children who cycle or scoot to school must dismount at the gate and walk to the designated storage area.

School Meals and Snacks

  • Free School Meals (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2): All children in these year groups are entitled to a free hot meal each day.
  • Years 3 to 6: Meals must be paid for in advance via ParentPay. Menus and current prices are available from the school office or our website.
  • Packed Lunches: If your child brings a packed lunch, please ensure it is healthy and does not contain sweets, chocolate or fizzy drinks.
  • Snacks: Only healthy snacks are allowed during break times.
  • Milk and Fruit: Children under 5, and those in KS1, receive free fruit daily. Free milk is also available for under-5s.

Appointments and Absences

If your child needs to leave school during the day for an appointment, please let the office know in advance. Collect and return your child via the school office.

  • Please phone the school on the first day of any absence and send a short note upon your child’s return.
  • If your child is absent for more than three days, we may request medical evidence to support their absence.
  • Requests for leave during term time must be submitted in writing to the Headteacher. Please be aware that absences can only be authorised in exceptional circumstances.

Medicines in School

If your child needs to take medication during the school day, please complete a Medication Authorisation Form at the office. All medicines must be handed in by an adult.

  • Asthma inhalers are stored safely in the office and children are supported to use them as needed.

Working in Partnership

We believe that children thrive best when school and families work in close partnership. Our staff are approachable and always happy to support you.

  • Teachers are usually available for a quick chat at the end of the school day.
  • For longer conversations, just ask for an appointment via the school office.
  • Please let us know of any home changes that may affect your child—your child’s wellbeing is always our priority.

Getting Involved

We warmly welcome parents, grandparents and carers to get involved with school life:

  • Parent Helpers: We appreciate support in class and with school events. All volunteers must complete a DBS check via the school.
  • Parent Consultations: These take place twice a year, with additional opportunities to view your child’s work and discuss their progress.
  • Governors: Our Governing Body works hard to support school improvement. You can find out more in the Governors section of our website.
